A Review for The Hunger Games (Question 29)

A Review (The Hunger Games #1)

The Hunger Games, not the whole trilogy, but the first novel, is a great read. The story is very unique and different from other dystopian stories. It was mainly packed with action, survival and a tad bit or romance, so it was quite good.  The story is about a girl (Katniss) who volunteers as a tribute to The Hunger Games to save her sister. These games are held once, every year and is a fight to death situation. All tributes from the 12 districts of Panem are put into an arena where the last person survives; wins.

The first few chapters of the book are kind of hard to get through (like normal books), but once you get into the whole climax/plot; this book will make you want to keep flipping the pages till you get to the end. I enjoyed reading from Katniss’ perspective because it showed bravery and heroism. Although Katniss is very heroic and all, she can get quite annoying with her social skill/attitude toward people. She is a very survival smart person, clearly from all the hunting. The novel was an entertaining read and overall, a good book.

I recommend this to people who enjoy reading dystopian and YA fiction.

Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins, 98-138
