Suzanne Marie Collins is an American television writer and novelist. She is best known for the author of the bestselling trilogy, The Hunger Games which has turned into a major motion picture and the last movie had just came out in November.
She began her career as a writer for children's television. Well known series such as Clarissa Explains it All and Little Bear. In 2003 she wrote her first children's books and her first bestselling series was The Underland Chronicles series.
She was first recognised as a distinguished children's writer when she published her second book of the Hunger Games trilogy, Catching fire in 2009. Collins has gotten many awards such as Georgia Peach Book Awards for Teen Readers in 2010.

What inspired her to write?
DeleteOne night, Collins was surfing through reality TV programmes and found one with a group of young teenagers competing in something, and then the next was a group of young men and women fighting in an actual war. Although she was really tired, these two channels really blended in together and that was how The Hunger Games whole story came to her and inspired her to write this series.
